World Curling Championships Coming to Utah

Home to the Greatest Snow on Earth®, Utah has a strong winter sport reputation as the future host of the 2034 Winter Olympic & Paralympic Games. Canadian winter sport fans will see Utah host the upcoming World Men's Curling Championship from March 28 to April 5, 2026 in Ogden. The venue previously hosted curling during the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. Located 40 minutes north of Salt Lake City, Ogden is home to Powder Mountain, the largest ski resort in the U.S. recently purchased by Netflix co-founder, Reed Hastings, who is creating an open-air art museum. Ogden is also Post Malone’s hometown (his fave hangout is said to be Brewskis Bar & Grill, ideal for watching sports), the City Club has the largest collection of Beatles memorabilia in the U.S. and, speaking of “stars,” Compass Rose Lodge has its own observatory for viewing Utah’s famed dark skies.

New SLC Airport & Flight Updates

Salt Lake City is a Delta hub and Canadian business travellers still travelling to the U.S. can take advantage of non-stop flights from the west, including Vancouver, Calgary and now Edmonton. Delta’s partner, WestJet, has a new seasonal, non-stop flight from Edmonton to Salt Lake City operating until October 24, 2025 and scheduled to resume May 5, 2026*. The New SLC Airport is the first new hub airport built in the U.S. in the 21st century. The final Phase 4 is scheduled to open in October 2025 and be fully complete one year later. It will also include a new, nearly 1,500 sq m (16,000 sq ft) American Express Centurion® Lounge expected by the end of 2025. *Subject to change

Dark Skies Expand in Southeastern Utah

As astro-tourism continues to trend and motive travellers, Utah continues to have the highest concentration of DarkSky International-certified dark skies on the planet. Bluff, Utah is the latest to be designated – bringing the state’s running total to 27 – and will host its inaugural Dark Sky Festival from November 14-15, 2025. The town's commitment to protecting its natural environment supports Utah’s preservation efforts to keep the state, Forever Mighty. Nestled in the red rock landscapes of Southeastern Utah, Bluff is located near Monument Valley and Natural Bridges National Monument – the world's first International Dark Sky Park.
