Expect the Unexpected: Mother Nature surprises in every season
Northern destinations like Salt Lake are in the spotlight this year as cool-cations continue to be a top travel trend in 2025. Primarily known as a winter destination, with four of Utah’s 15 ski resorts (Alta, Brighton, Snowbird and Solitude) within a 45-minute drive, Salt Lake actually delivers natural wonders year-round. As Old Man Winter concedes to spring, wildflowers are abloom across Salt Lake’s Wasatch Mountains. Summer visitors can beat the heat by choosing hiking and mountain biking adventures at higher elevations, and the region’s fall foliage rivals Eastern destinations as a fresh alternative for leaf-peeping travellers

Constant Evolution: Western heritage meets modern winter sports
As the host of the 2034 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games and home to the NHL’s newest team, the Utah Hockey Club, Salt Lake is evolving into the next great sports city. To support this progression, Salt Lake will welcome back its annual Winter Roundup on February 8, 2025 featuring its free headline event: skijoring – where skiers are pulled by horses along a downtown street covered in over 30 truckloads of snow brought down from neighbouring mountains. Winter Roundup blends Salt Lake’s Western heritage with sport, and also includes a partnership with Utah Days of '47 Rodeo, performing arts and entertainment, and hotel and après ski specials throughout downtown Salt Lake.

Above and Beyond: New hotel elevates hospitality
For the first time in its 100-year history, Michelin has named Utah a three-star state, describing it as “a destination worth making a special trip.” It is the Salt Lake way to provide hospitality beyond expectation, and there is no better example than the highly anticipated opening of the Asher Adams, Autograph Collection. The Marriott hotel incorporates the lobby of the historic Union Pacific Depot that welcomed visitors to the city by rail starting in 1908. The sophisticated property offers 225 rooms, including 13 specialty suites within the train station, four food and beverage outlets, 780 square metres of meeting space, and an enviable location between The Gateway and Delta Center, Salt Lake’s sports and entertainment district.

Easy Going: Additional sightseeing tour offers time savings
Maximizing vacation time is valuable to every traveller, and Salt Lake not only provides effortless access to Utah’s 15 ski resorts and Mighty 5® national parks, but is a gateway worth spending time in. Southwest Adventure Tours – one of Utah’s preeminent guided tour operators – is launching a new hop-on, hop-off sightseeing service in Salt Lake to help visitors leverage their time. Specializing in small groups, Southwest will have three Sprinter vans, each seating 14 guests, operating continuously around the city from 9am-6pm daily. This new tour adds to Southwest’s city walking tours and other regional offerings to Great Salt Lake and Antelope Island state parks.
