To inspire future travel, Nevada has launched a new TV show hosted by ‘Free Solo’ star Alex Honnold – the world-renowned rock climber who just completed a historic, ropeless climb of Taipei 101 on Netflix’s ‘Skyscraper Live.’ The five-part series, called Get a Little Out There with Alex Honnold, shifts Honnold’s focus from extreme climbs to everyday adventures throughout his home state of Nevada. Traveling throughout the Silver State in his van, he takes on bucket-list experiences that combine outdoor exploration, culture, and delightfully uncommon roadside attractions that line Nevada’s highways, as the Road Trip Capital of the USA.   Throughout the series, viewers will virtually meet cowboy poets, visit a haunted clown hotel, sample traditional Basque cuisine, mine turquoise to create jewelry, and stargaze beneath skies filled with more than 4,500 visible stars.  The series airs on the Outside TV app, which is available for free download in Canada.

Great Basin National Park Turns 40

Great Basin National Park turns 40 in 2026, a milestone shaped by decades of scientific research, stewardship, and community passion. The park features alpine lakes, the spectacular Lehman Caves (currently undergoing lighting and infrastructure upgrades, scheduled for completion in summer 2026), some of the darkest skies in the U.S., and groves of ancient bristlecone pines that have stood for thousands of years. Best of all, Great Basin National Park in Nevada remains far less crowded than most other national parks in the western states, offering visitors a rare sense of solitude and serenity.

America250 and Hoover Dam turns 90

As the U.S. celebrates a milestone anniversary this year, America250, Nevada invites travellers to rediscover a classic American tradition: the road trip. Nevada’s 10 themed road trip itineraries lead visitors throughout the Silver State, connecting historic mining towns to frontier landmarks, like the Hoover Dam to the Pony Express National Historic Trail. Also marking a milestone this year at 90 years old, the Hoover Dam was the tallest dam in the world at 726 ft (221 m) when it was completed in 1936. This Depression-era megaproject still supplies power to cities, provides water for millions, and exemplifies American innovation. It can easily be visited from the Las Vegas Strip on the Neon to Nature itinerary – with tour options that include hiking, biking and kayaking – and remains one of the greatest infrastructure achievements in U.S. history.
